11747 Lance Corporal Leonard Percy Dancer
"C" Company 2nd Battalion Ox and Bucks Light Infantry
Killed in Action 16th May 1915
L/Cpl Dancer was born in Birmingham and enlisted in that city. His family had a shoe shop in Tenbury. he was educated at Tenbury C of E School and is remembered on the Memorial Board in the School hall. He is also remembered on the memorial Plaque in St Marys Church, Tenbury. he was killed in the battle of Festurburt and is remembered on panel 26 of the Commonwealth war Graves memorial at Le Touret. The Memorial commemorates over 13,000 officers and men who have no known grave.
11501 Private Frederick Wilfred Evans

Buried in Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres
Private Evans and his brother who served in the A.S.C were natives of Tenbury and their parents Mr & Mrs Bernard Evans lived at 35, Cross Street, Tenbury Wells. he was educated at Tenbury C of E School and is remembered on the Memorial Board at the school. Private Evans is remembered on panel 47 & 49 on the Ypres Memorial at Menin Gate. This memorial bears the names of more than 54,000 officers and men who fell in the Ypres Salient and have no known grave.

Buried in CWG Memorial, Vimy Ridge
Trooper Gore was a native of Tenbury and was educated at Tenbury C of E School. He is remembered on the memorial Board in the School Hall and on the Memorial Plaque in St Marys Church Tenbury Wells. The Memorial at Vimy Ridge commemorates the 60,000 Canadians who lost their lives during the Great war and names the 11,169 of them who have no known graves.

Private Hall was from Oldwood, Tenbury Wells and was educated at Tenbury Primary School. he is remembered on panel 150 to 152 on the Helles Memorial, Turkey and on the memorial Board in Tenbury Primary School.
Captain Tom Arthur Higginson
6th Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry
Killed in Action 19th September 1915 Aged 26 years Ypres

Captain Tom Higginson was the younger brother of Captain George Higginson of the Lancashire Fusiliers, KIA 23.11.1916. His death was announced in the London Illustrated news 9.10.1915. He was the husband of Winifred F.M Higginson of Deep River, Connecticut, USA and son of George Freeman and Anna Neale Higginson, The Square, Tenbury Wells. Both he and his brother attended Tenbury C of E School and are remembered on the Memorial Board in the School Hall.

Sergeant Hurds was educated at Tenbury C of E School, Bromyard Road, Tenbury Wells. He was a regular soldier having enlisted in 1895. Both he and his brother fought in the Boer War. Their parents lived in Berrington Road, Tenbury Wells. Sergeant Hurds fought at both Paardeburg in the Boer War and Dardenelles in the Great War. he is remembered on panels 104 to 113 at Helles memorial, turkey. he is also remembered on the memorial Plaques in both Tenbury School and St Marys Church Tenbury
Commander John Berkley Murray

Killed in Action 30th December 1915 Aged 33 years

Buried in CWG Royal Navy Memorial, Chatham
Commander Murray was killed when HMS Natal sank following an internal explosion. He had enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1912 on a regular engagement. He was the third son of the Late W Berkley Murray and Mrs Murray of the Parks, Tenbury Wells. He is remembered on panel 8 of the Chatham Memorial which commemorates 8,500 Naval personnel from WW1 who have no known graves. his older brother was killed in action at Longueval, France.

Private Tom Palmer is remembered on panel 17 & 18, Le Touret Memorial, France. He was the son of Colour Sergeant & Mrs Palmer of Kyrewood, Tenbury Wells and attended Tenbury C of E School where he is remembered on the Memorial Board in the School Hall.

Private Guest was the son of Cornelius & Jane Guest and the husband of Elizabeth Guest of 4 Spurtree Cottage, Tenbury Wells. He is remembered on panel 104 to 113 of Helles Memorial Turkey. His name is inscribed on the plinth of the war memorial at St Michaels Church.

Private Andrews was born in Tenbury and was the son of William & Susan Andrews.
He left a wife Julia Elizabeth Andrews of the Corn Exchange, Tenbury Wells and brothers & sisters Tom, Floss, Annie & Min. Private Andrews is remembered on the Memorial Plaques in St Marys Church and in Tenbury Primary School.
2nd Lieutenant William Archie Beaman MC
10th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment
Killed in Action Ypres Salient 10th April 1918 Aged 24 years

Lt Beaman MC was the son of James & Maria Beaman, Teme Street, Tenbury(previously residing at spring vale, Worcester Road, Tenbury)
Lt Beaman enlisted in 1914 from Cheltenham College and went to France in 1915 serving in the trenches. He was commissioned in 1916 and in 1917 agreed to continue his commission into peacetime, becoming a regular soldier. He is buried in an unknown grave and recorded on panel 75/77 Tyne cot Cemetery, Flanders. he is also remembered on the Memorial Plaques in St Marys Church and in Tenbury Primary School.
Private Frederick William Bebb

Private Bebb was the son of Thomas & Mary Ann Bebb of The Star Yard, Tenbury Wells, and husband of Edith Mary Bebb (formerly Brown), Ivy Cottage Bleathwood, Little Hereford. Pte Bebb is remembered on panel 41 at The Commonwealth war graves Cemetery, Pozieres, and on the memorial in
St Marys Church, Tenbury Wells.

L/Corporal Bicknell was the son of Sarah Bicknell of Bricklehampton, Pershore and the husband of Louisa Bicknell of 3 St Stephens Terrace, Droitwich Road, Worcester. he is buried in Grave 0 III C5 St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.
This was in the main a major hospital cemetery throughout the war. Prior to enlisting L/Cpl Bicknell had been a serving officer in the Worcestershire Constabulary at Droitwich. he is also remembered on the memorial plaque in St Marys Church and on the memorial Board at Police Headquarters Hind lip Hall Worcester.

Gunner Caseley is buried in plot VII G 35 in the Browns copse Cemetery, Roeux (plot 7 was installed after the Armistice, for bodies brought in from north and east of Arras.) Gunner Caseley is also remembered on the memorial Plaque in St Marys Church, Tenbury Wells. he was a married man with two children and lived in Church street, Tenbury wells.
1843 Private Henry Alexander Chadney

Private Chadney was a member of the Odd fellows, a resident of Tenbury Wells and the only son of Mr & Mrs Chadney of Ryse Lane. Prior to enlisting had been employed by Mr Knott at Kyrewood. He had been educated at Tenbury C of E School and is remembered on the memorial board at the school and on the memorial Plaque in St Marys Church, Tenbury Wells. Private Chadney's body was brought from Tidworth to Tenbury Wells where it was buried in St Marys Churchyard in a military funeral with a Guard of Honour from his Regiment.

L/Cpl Davies is remembered on panel 11 of the Memorial at Louverval, Cambrai. The memorial commemorates more than 7000 allied troops who lost their lives in the battle of Cambrai at the end of November 1917.
L/Cpl Davies was the son of Samuel & Emma Davies of Berrington Lane, Tenbury Wells. He was educated at Tenbury C of E School and on leaving school was a stable boy to Mr Murray, Physician and Surgeon, The Parks, Tenbury. He is remembered on the memorial Board at the school.

Sergeant Daw was the only son of Hannah Daw and the late A.G Daw of Mayfield, Tenbury Wells. He was educated at Tenbury C of E School and is remembered on the Memorial Board in the School Hall. he is recorded on the Pier and Face IID of the Thiepval memorial which commemorates over 72,000 officers and men who died on the Somme and have no known grave. 90% of those fell between July and November 1916.

Private Field was the son of Alfred George and Emma Jane Field who lived at 23 Church Street, Tenbury Wells and was educated at Tenbury C of E School. he is remembered on the memorial board in the School Hall, and at the Soissons Memorial which was erected in the memory of 3,882 officers and men of the UK Forces who died in the battle of Aisne & Marne in 1918 and have no known graves.
